NYX Girls-Pop Culture and Misa-Endless Keys

The last of my NYX Girls polishes for a long while. Pop Culture is a medium orange, red leaning creme with a little bit of gold shimmer. And when I say little I mean little. Small, tiny, miniscule. Whatever word you want to see. I think it's supposed to do that whole hidden shimmer thing, but it doesn't work. Honestly, I'd rather they had just kept it as a creme. You almost can't tell the difference anyway.

I used two thick coats this time and I didn't have any coverage issues, but it took a bit longer to dry then my others. Still, wasn't that bad. It went on great as well. Nice and even and I had no issues with the formula. This is two coats btw. I think for me what's most disappointing is the shimmer. If you're going to do it, do it full out so we can see it. Or at least enough where we can tell. Unless you're under a direct light source and you look hard (and I mean HARD) you're not really going to see it here. So what's the point?

I had Misa Endless Keys from their current summer collection just sitting there and since Pop Culture wasn't doing it for me by itself I thought I'd add a layer of this to my mani.

Bingo! Now, I probably could have done two coats, but I love the look of one. You can see the flakies/glitter without it be overwhelming. It gives it the glittering look without it being the only thing you can see. Since Endless Keys isn't just orange and gold flakies/glitter in clear polish (the polish is light orange) it did change the look of Pop Culture a bit. Made it a bit lighter which I love. It looks all tangeriney and ready for summer goodness.

So that's it. Not much more to say. I love the look of both Pop Culture and Endless Keys together. It's summer for me. I just wish Pop Culture was better all by itself.

NYX Girls-Royal Purple

I had no idea that today was Prince's birthday when I put this one on last night. But pretty apropos, don't you think?

Royal Purple is a dark (and I mean DARK) purple polish with lots of purple, blue, red, and green micro glitter in it. I don't have an indoor shot unfortunately, but when indoors it's not highly visible. You can see shimmer, but you can't tell what it is. But once with a direct light source it really comes out.

The formula to this was...weird. It went on streaky with the first coat. And I thought that it evened out with the second. But when I took pictures I saw that it didn't really do that. There are some bare spots that you can see on the nail. It's not highly visible, but I wish I would have known that while putting it on. Despite being dark, unless you do thick coats (and my second coat was thick) you definitely need three coats.

Despite all that, it was easy to handle, not too thick or thin. And like my previous NYX Girls polishes, it dried pretty quickly. I think I love that the most with these polishes. It's a very pretty dark, vampy purple with lots of hidden shimmer/glitter. Perfect for fall. Or Prince's birthday. :)

NYX Girls-Maui Sunrise

A pink! It's been a while since I've worn one. Does this count for Pink Wednesday? I suppose it does.

 Maui Sunrise is a medium pink with lots of gold and pink glitter in it. The glitter isn't overwhelming, almost like a thick shimmer, but it's definitely noticeable when looking at the nails. And you don't have to look hard. While it does shine some, it's not a big in the sparkling department even out in the sun. Not like some others I've worn. But it's still pretty and it still stands out. It's a bit darker indoors than it is outdoors.

I have on two coats here. The first coat was streaky, but even out nicely at two. And the formula was good. Way better than my last NYX Girls polish. The polish wasn't thick or thin and it flowed well on the nail; wasn't hard to manage this one at all. And it dried pretty fast, just like my previous NYX Girls polish.

I really like this one. It's nice and sparkly without being too sparkly. It's not too girly pink. And it goes on smooth and dries fast. My kind of polish. I'm so happy I got this one.

NYX Girls-Fire Amber

I'm not a big fan of red. Never have been, never will be. Maybe it's because it's bold and vibrant and you can't not see it. I tend to like to hide in the background; red is a color that stands out. Maybe it's because I've heard it stains like whoa. Either way, I tend to shy away from red. So when Cherry Culture had their 50% NYX sale I told myself that I was going to get a red nail polish and have at least one in my collection. I got it and...I kind of like it.

Fire Amber is a dark almost blood red. Or at least what I think of as blood red. What's amazing about this polish is that outside in the sun you can see all kinds of red shimmer. However, it's only out in the sun. I've tried finding it in other light sources and no dice. You just don't see it. But in the sun it's there and makes the polish that much prettier.

The formula was okay. It was thin and spread quickly and can get out of hand if not painting carefully. I had a tricky time handling this one. However, it went on with one coat. The only other nail brand I can reliable wear just one coat is Zoya, so kudos to NYX on this. And it did dry pretty fast. I actually didn't need topcoat, but I'm so used to adding it at the end that I did it anyway. But that's where another negative comes in because it stained my brush pretty good. Which makes me fear taking this off and seeing my nails, but that's another issue.

You know, I like this. i don't think I'll ever turn into a fan of red nail polish, but it's nice having this one in the collection.
