Well hi everyone. How has your summer been going? Mine's been okay. Mostly classes, which are boring, but they need to get done. It's been hot, but where in the country hasn't been hot?

Uh, anyway. I needed and wanted to create a post, but I realized that I didn't really paint my nails so much this summer. I really have been rocking the base coat and nothing else pretty much. I've wore lacqure a few times, but not that much. Part of is because I was too lazy to do it. Another part is because I got a crack half way down my finger. Yeah, not fun. But I did a full blown mani today. Hurrah! I'll make a post about that tomorrow (I think) but until then here are the three polishes I actually put on my nails so far this summer. (I did a fourth-RBL's Sante Fe Road but I didn't remember to take photos of it.)

I liked them all. Feel Me Up was the most difficult to work with, only because it's yellow and yellows are notoriously hard to work with. That was three coats and I was okay with it enough to stop there, although I feel a fourth would have worked out all the streaks I was having still at three coats. I'm sad I waited so long to wear Lunar Eclipse. It's a beautiful polish and I understand why everyone went crazy over that collection a few years ago. Edyta was gorgeous, but my pictures don't tell the story of it. It has shimmer and glitter that just didn't get picked up. It's the perfect dark green polish. I think it's one of those must haves polishes, especially if you like greens.

See, I told y'all I wasn't really wearing polish. I have to admit it's been nice to just wear my bare nails most of the time. I imagine I'll get out of it one of these days and run back to the color, but for now this has been it. Full mani post tomorrow. Hopefully. (Maybe Tuesday.)

Cult Nails-Enigmatic and Orly-Fowl Play

I decided to wear my last Cult Nails polish from the fall collection, Enigmatic. Enigmatic is a dark purple with shimmer that flashes red, purple, and even blue. It's pretty, if not particularly a color I go to first. I think I said in a previous post that I don't have a huge amount of vampy purples, so this is probably much needed in my collection.

The formula on this was thin. I should have done three coats but I hate doing three coats. Dried okay. I have to be honest, I'm very much meh to this, and I thought I'd love it. It's why I saved it for last. I was pretty bummed about the polish and ready to take it off, and then my eyes caught Fowl Play just sitting there and I said what the hell.

Now that's more like it! I don't know if it's visible in the pictures, but Fowl Play made the purple darker and added those gorgeous red and blue flakies.

Now, I love this combination! I didn't have to do two coats of FP, and it greatly improved Enigmatic to me. This together is a winner in my book.

I still plan on wearing FP by itself sometime before the year is out. But I love this mani so much right now I'm okay with not getting to it soon. Or at least as soon as I was expecting too.

Orly-Sweet Peacock

It's been a while since I've worn Orly. Don't know why, besides the fact that I didn't really like their summer collection. *shrugs* Anyway, I'm digging their Fall "Birds of a Feather" collection, so let's get to one of them now.

Sweet Peacock is a medium blue foil. The color is bright. Like, BRIGHT. Indoors and out. You can't help but to notice this polish. I think it looks so much better on the nail than in the bottle, but both are pretty in their own right.

The formula with this was weird. It was thick and it felt like it wanted to be a one coater, but it was streaky. This is two coats. It also dried a bit on the slow side. And maybe this is just me, but this chipped pretty damn quickly. I actually have no problem with chips. I have horrible peeling nails so I'm used to my polish lasting a day. But this one didn't even go a day. A few hours tops. Disappointing because I was adoring it before then.

So pretty, but I really didn't like the chips. Maybe it was my base coat. Who knows? Anyway, it's a beauty. If you don't have nail problems this polish is well worth it. A blue foil? Can never go wrong with that.

Orly-Royal Navy

It's not a design, but this was my Fourth of July mani. Royal Navy has been a lemming of mine since it came out last year. I finally found it at my local Sallys and grabbed it right away. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but this may be my favorite blue polish ever.

Royal Navy is a navy blue with lots of blue and green shimmer inside. It's not one of those polishes where you need to be in a light source to see the shimmer, you can see it whenever. I've heard this called a "bright" navy blue by some and it is. The color is dark, but not so dark you think it's a totally different color.

This is two coats. I could have easily gotten away with one, but wanted to see what multiples looked like. You get much more shimmer with more than one coat. I found the formula on this to be a bit thick, but it was still easy to use and handle. It dried fast and somewhat matte, which I wasn't expecting. Top coat is definitely needed to fully bring out that shimmer.

The polish is just beautiful. I never expected something to replace my beloved OPI Yoga-Ta Get This Blue as my favorite blue polish, but I'm pretty sure this did the trick. If you somehow don't have this yet, run-don't walk-to your nearest beauty store and get this polish today. Today okay? :)
