OPI-Grape...Set...Match and Servin Up Sparkle

I told myself that when I was done for the semester I would wear these two polishes as a little treat to myself. Well, the semester ended last Monday (for me anyway) and I was enamored by other polishes. But after Serena Williams last kickass performance at the Rogers Cup this past Sunday, I decided to pull out her Grand Slam England collection.

I have to say, as much of a fan of Serena, I didn't have any particular interest in buying the first three collections she had. They just weren't my style. But I loved this one and bought it the moment it went on the shelves at Ulta. Let's start with Grape Set Match. It's a medium purple base with lots of purple, blue, and just a hint of pink glitter in it. I know my pictures have it leaning a bit blue, but it's a true purple.

I have on two thin coats. I probably should have made the second coat just a bit thicker. It went on well and dried pretty damn fast. I didn't use topcoat until it was completely done so the pictures of just GSM are without one. It's such a gorgeous polish on it's own it really doesn't need glitter topper. But what the hell, right?

Servin Up Sparkle is a clear polish with, would you call is holo?, glitter in it. Most of the glitter is small, but there are pieces of big particles running through it. It too is so pretty and the color of it changes depending on the light.

However it's not the greatest polish to apply. I mean, it dried quickly. It's clear; of course it dried quickly. But getting the big particle glitter on your nail is hard. It's hard to get it just on the brush. It's also very runny. It took some time to get the big particles on my nails. I probably should have done two coats of this, but I like the look of one. It's there and you can see it without it overtaking the beauty of GSM.

I plan to wear this one for a while. Problems with SUS be damned, this is a fantastic combination. I'm so happy they went with a glitter topper instead of another crackle topper. This is so worth the investment if you're a purple fan like me. Maybe I'm biased, but I really do think this is the best mini collection out of them all. Although it's hard to screw up purple glitter and holo glitter, isn't it? :)

  2. This purple is so awesome! Its my fav set from all of the Serena duos as well. I had similar issues with SuS...I liked GSM better all on its own.

  3. Nicole-Thank you so much! :)

KayJay-yeah, I remember telling you that I liked GSM all on its own as well. I hope OPI sells it by itself eventually. Add it to their regular collection.

  4. Just found your blog and I think this purple color is SO pretty and that is cool it's a color by Serena. I'm a big fan of hers! I just saw her play a couple weeks ago here in Northern California. I think it's cool when women athletes, not just celebs, have their own beauty lines. I like the sparkles a lot. Following you now
